Socialisation
Structured and intentional exposure that builds calm, confident puppies
Socialisation is not simply letting puppies meet everything in an uncontrolled way. It is a carefully guided process that teaches puppies how to remain calm, confident and neutral in a wide variety of situations.
Puppies learn to navigate the world while looking to their handler for guidance.
During the programme puppies will experience:
- Positive, controlled interactions with other puppies
- Calm exposure to a variety of people
- Confidence in different environments and locations
- Exploration of new surfaces, sounds and objects
- Learning to remain relaxed in unfamiliar situations
The goal is to develop a puppy that can move through the world without fear, over-excitement or anxiety.
Manners
Developing polite behaviour for everyday life
Good manners form the foundation of a well-balanced family dog. Puppies are taught how to behave calmly and appropriately in situations they will encounter every day.
This includes:
- Calm and controlled greetings with people
- No jumping up for attention
- Learning patience and impulse control
- Waiting politely when asked
- Walking nicely on the lead
- Bite inhibition and gentle mouth manners
These skills help puppies understand how to live harmoniously in a human world.
Obedience
Building a clear communication system between puppy and handler
Obedience training strengthens the relationship between the puppy and their handler. Puppies learn to focus, respond and follow guidance with confidence.
Core skills include:
- Responding reliably to their name
- Checking in with their handler for direction
- Following clear guidance from people
- Working towards developing a reliable recall (coming when called)
- Basic commands: Sit, Down, Stay, Gentle
This creates a puppy that looks to their handler for leadership and is able to respond calmly and reliably in real-life situations.

Each puppy attends one day per week for four weeks, learning alongside carefully matched companions.
Puppy Foundations
12-16 weeks (Plus 2 weeks flexibility)
In our Foundations programme, we use structured training games to build the essential skills your puppy needs for life. These are not obedience drills. They are carefully designed exercises that develop confidence in new environments, calmness in everyday situations, and focus and engagement with their handler.

As puppies grow, distractions increase, independence kicks in, and behaviours begin to change. Our Real Life Skills programme is designed to take the foundations you've built and turn them into reliable, everyday behaviour.

At The Pack Standard - Puppy Academy, our focus is simple: helping puppies grow into calm, confident and well-mannered family dogs.
Through our Puppy Academy, we guide pups during the most important stage of their development, using a structured training approach built around Socialisation, Manners and Obedience.
Our programs are designed to give puppies the skills they need to succeed in the real world. Rather than chaotic daycare environments, our Puppy Academy provides small group learning, structured social exposure and clear guidance, helping pups develop confidence while learning appropriate behaviour around people and other dogs.
We believe that great dogs are created through consistency, calm leadership and clear communication. By focusing on engagement with people, emotional balance and everyday manners, we help set puppies up for a lifetime of success.
The Pack Standard offers a boutique puppy training experience, with small group sizes and personalised attention for every puppy. Each program supports both the puppy and the owner, providing progress updates and guidance so learning continues at home.
Our goal is to raise dogs that are not only obedient, but also balanced, socially confident and a joy to live with.

EmmaThompson
Hi, My name is Emma Thompson and I am the trainer behind The Pack Standard - Puppy Academy.
I created The Pack Standard because I believe puppies deserve more than just being looked after — they deserve the right foundation from the very beginning. Early training has such a powerful impact on the kind of dog a puppy grows into, and I'm passionate about helping owners raise dogs that are calm, confident and easy to live with.
Our approach is centred around Socialisation, Manners and Obedience. I focus on structured learning, clear communication and calm guidance, helping puppies develop the skills they need to thrive both at home and out in the real world.
Through our Puppy Academy, I work with puppies during the most important stages of their development, using small group programs designed to build confidence, encourage appropriate social behaviour and create strong engagement with people.
I understand how overwhelming puppyhood can feel for owners, and my goal is to make that journey feel supported, structured and positive. I love helping puppies learn, but I also love helping owners feel more confident and connected with their dog.
At The Pack Standard - Puppy Academy, my aim is simple: to help set puppies up for a lifetime of success.

Puppy Health, Safety &Learning Environment
Your puppy's health, safety and wellbeing are a top priority at The Pack Standard.
Puppies attending day training spend time at our private Sunshine Coast Hinterland property in Montville, set on 2.5 acres of peaceful acreage. Rather than a busy commercial facility, puppies learn in a calm home environment where they can safely explore natural surroundings while receiving structured training and guidance.
Experiencing grass, natural surfaces, new scents and gentle outdoor sounds helps puppies build confidence, curiosity and resilience during this important stage of development. The setting allows puppies to practise social skills and everyday behaviours in a relaxed, real-world environment.
All activities are carefully supervised and structured to ensure a safe, positive and enriching experience for every puppy. This is a structured puppy education program rather than a traditional daycare environment, allowing each puppy to receive individual guidance, appropriate rest and meaningful learning throughout the day. The environment is carefully managed to provide safe exploration, structured learning and appropriate rest periods for young puppies.

The early months of a puppy's life — particularly between 12 and 20 weeks of age — are a critical learning and socialisation period. Positive experiences during this time help shape how puppies respond to new environments, people and other dogs throughout their lives.
